matoyomi (mato kuroi x yomi takanashi) has to be one of my favorite anime ships of all time. derived from the characters of black rock shooter and dead master, the two are junior high students who meet each other on the first day. the two become best friends due to their shared love of a children's book about a rainbow bird. however, the two get entangled in a toxic and dramatic middle school environment, and have to fight as their "otherselves" to kill these emotional connections and put an end to their suffering. these two have been through SO MUCH and they deserve the WORLD, you hear me? someone give these poor lesbians a big HUG.

in any case, though, they're such an adorable couple. like do you guys remember the scene in the OVA where mato squishes her face up on yomi's? and the anime scenes where they talk about the rainbow bird cellphone keys and go to a festival together? i love them so much,,, ;-; the ending is pretty controversial, that is a flaw that I will acknowledge, but what matters is that my girls got their happy ending.

p.s - sayo and kagari need a THERAPIST. leave these poor girls alone 💀
