this anime right here, is the anime that introduced many people worldwide to black rock shooter. an underrated gem that deserves more love and is perfect in so many ways. where do i begin ?

released in 2012, the black rock shooter anime adapts the plot of the 2010 ova, with significant changes. it has the same plot of mato and yomi meeting and becoming friends in junior high. however, this is a much darker take as it delves into the psychological pain and turmoil of mentally ill middle schoolers. introduced in this version are kagari izuriha, yomi's disabled friend with extreme attachment issues; yuu koutari, a victim of bullying who becomes friends with mato; and saya irino, the manipulative school counsellor. in another world, the "otherselves" of these girls fight to vent their problems, and as drama unfolds between the students, the battle of the mind becomes more dire...

oh my god i LOVE this anime it is absolutely PERFECT ??? it's like evangelion and madoka hooked up and had a baby,,, the cgi is surprisingly gorgeous for an anime, the drama is thrilling, the voice acting is emotional, and the story is intriguing. it is genuinely a huge comfort anime for me and it is my all time favorite black rock shooter project. if only dawn fall was half as good as it lol. i love this anime a lot so it's gonna have a pretty big subsection.
